THE MACARONS PROJECT - HEARTBREAKER

The Macarons Project, the Indonesian indie pop/folk brother-sister duo consisting of Ree and Dito, has unveiled their newest single, "Heartbreaker." Previously gaining fame for their thoughtful cover songs, “Heartbreaker” showcases the duo’s songwriting abilities as they share an original song about the sweet yet sorrowful essence of love hanging in uncertainty.

Through introspective lyrics and emotive imagery, "Heartbreaker" explores themes of disillusionment and the realization that love doesn't always go as expected. The song initially sets a positive tone but quickly reveals the reality of a complicated relationship. The verses depict a cycle of indecision, while the chorus reflects on the realization that love doesn't always follow the expected path. Overall, "Heartbreaker" captures the highlights that love can be more complex than expected.

As the duo are based in Canada, they recorded the track at Monarch Studios in Vancouver, BC. Produced by Jacob Montague and Eric Price and engineered by Aaron Klassen and Stuart Carlson, the single showcases the duo's evolution. “Heartbreaker” blends their expected folk vibe with retro allure through the addition of electric guitar and understated percussion.

"Heartbreaker" is also the fourth original track from their upcoming album, reverie, which is set to be released by the end of this summer.

Having collaborated since childhood, Ree and Dito officially formed The Macarons Project in 2014. Influenced by artists like Angus & Julia Stone, Novo Amor, and Fleet Foxes, they only started releasing their original songs in 2020. As they continue to evolve, the siblings remain dedicated to crafting heartfelt and authentic music.
