We quite enjoyed ‘Take What You Need’. While the track’s sonic references are not necessarily unique and refreshing, the song itself carries a lot of weight, exposing the nuanced storytelling and introspective work championed so proudly by Stefan West. Hailing from Australia, the talented singer and songwriter thrives on wholesome pop-rock, here delivered with charisma and a general sense of hopefulness.
Fuelling West’s musical journey are his past dealings with addiction and depression, shaping his sense of resilience and allowing him to get to know human nature on a more complex level. Now, he’s seeking redemption through his art, something we are incredibly proud of.
Speaking about the writing process behind ‘Take What You Need’, Stefan explains: “This song was actually written whilst working a trade job around 3 years ago at the beginning of covid. I remember climbing up and down a ladder to voice note different lines of the verse. I then fleshed the song out further with Aaron Schembri, before going in to record it with Chris at the end of 2021.”
