SheBeat's words:

What are a few words that would best describe you and your musical world?

It's difficult for me to categorise my music, but I'm really into storytelling and lyrics in songs from other artists, similarly I love indie pop and folk pop, and hopefully all that comes across in my own songs.

How do you stay motivated and inspired to create new music?

Music soothes me, so I'm motivated to create new music as a kind of self-care. As a songwriter I believe in 6-string therapy, I get a release when I write songs about my life. The best thing about songwriting is when your songs reach someone else and help them to feel seen, even soothed, or simply given an emotional release too.

Are you working on any new music or planning anything exciting that we can look forward to?

I'm working on my debut album From Liverpool to Leith out in November which will include a couple more new songs plus new versions of some previously released songs. It's been 10 years of releasing music and I hope to include lots of friends I've made along the way. Collaboration, community and friendships are part of the magic of music for me. My life is so much more meaningful since picking up a guitar in the 00s. Being a singer songwriter has enriched my life in ways I couldn't have predicted. If anyone if considering trying to write songs, just go for it, give yourself permission.
