Satellite Train have released the single “Cry” in anticipation for their upcoming debut album “The Melbourne Sessions”. The Australian band is made up of a variety of talented musicians, who crafted this album in a moment of spontaneity one weekend in the city of Melbourne. Their approach to the music is different than most; rather than trying to capture the most perfect version of a song, they stick with the first recording of a track to maintain the authenticity of a live performance. “Cry” is a complex song about a young girl who has lost her parents, and must come to terms with this lonely childhood. With a uniquely heartbreaking story, the song provides an optimism that she can overcome this difficult upbringing. Over the indie-pop tunes, the story develops into a tale of self-reliance. We are all able to receive this message of inner-strength, as even far into adulthood we often feel like a lost little child. At the end of the day, we don’t need to cry - we simply need to pick ourselves back up. Satellite Train gives us a taste of what is to come with “Cry”, as we expect to hear more authentic sounds and lyricism that speaks to the soul.
