RAE LOU - Suffocate

Rae Lou's latest offering, ‘Suffocate’, proves that a well-crafted song doesn't need much to stand out. The Whitchurch native masterfully employs a grand, elegant piano and her anthemic, cinematic-like vocals to create a seemingly simple and soothing pop gem, easy and comforting on the ears. Of course, Rae puts a massive effort into her songwriting, creating a soundtrack to her own nuanced and deep fictional universe.

In the case of ‘Suffocate’, the British talent was inspired by the mental health struggles depicted in the English feature film "Watching Goldfish Suffocate," using it as a bait for personal expression. Exploring the loneliness that many of us seem to be experiencing, especially during challenging personal situations, Rae Lou shines a light on the importance of keeping yourself up, finding the energy to react to the darkness even in the most painful moments.

A fantastic masterclass in artistry and songwriting from Rae Lou, who looks set on reaching even higher grounds. We’ll be here supporting her.
