Nissu, a pop artist based in Ireland, recently released his debut EP titled “Memories,” which can be best described as a nostalgic pop EP that features clean and modern production. Much like the early pop anthems that defined the late 2000s, Nissu shows that he is talented at making songs that are easily relatable. Thus, it should come as no surprise that he worked with producer Trey Vittetoe on this EP, who has collaborated with Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Selena Gomez. His voice rings with a loving charm while the high-quality production ensures that “Memories” never feels outdated. Each track features bright synths, catchy choruses, and just the right amount of emotion, making it an easy listen that gives some feels.
For example, the opening track, “U,” perfectly demonstrates the tone of the EP with lyrics like, "When I wake up, and you're not here, I ask myself how I can live like this?,” which are featured over a punky pop beat that gives that it’s-all-going-to-be-OK optimism. Maybe better said, it’s the kind of song that would have fit seamlessly into a teen rom-com soundtrack. Meanwhile, “Connection” stands out for its message of unity, that is all about honoring the strength of LGBTQ+ community with positive lyrics “We will be better than what we were / not afraid to show the world.”
