Introduced by minimal electronic soundscapes, ‘Won’t Happen Again’ instantly crowns Lydia's soothing, evocative vocals, building the tension towards a majestic piano-fuelled breakdown. What comes after, it’s unexpected, a funky, wonky beat tied with bright and glitchy electronica.
Self-produced by Mia herself, the record focuses on the often negative nature of human relationships, drawing inspiration from a friend’s experience. As she explains: "I felt so fired up about it after finding out a friend of mine was affected by abuse, so the song sort of spilled out of my brain. It’s the first time I’ve written from the perspective of another person rather than from my own point of view. Putting yourself in the shoes of someone who is capable of abuse was interesting, but also pretty morbid."
