After debuting with ‘Won’t Happen Again’ earlier this year, Mia Lydia now returns with another stunning single, ‘Eberhard’. The Brisbane-based songstress once again confirms her natural class and elegance, building on the very same crepuscular pop stylings she got us used to. It’s a triumph: introduced by a rather anthemic and evocative vocals and piano section, ‘Eberhard’ feels intense, cathartic, almost celebrative. Melancholic too, especially when taking into account Lydia’s luscious and intimate voice tone.

Production-wise, there’s some minimalism involved, with the record careful to provide enough space for Mia’s precious storytelling. Channelling trip-hop and soundtrack formulas, the single grows in intensity towards the end, revealing a charming world of soundscapes, bright synth work and leftfield textures.

Delving into the song’s lyricism, Lydia explains: “Eberhard' delves into the moral ambiguity of right and wrong; the track blends electronic soundscapes with violin and experimental foley, offering a cinematic experience for those who listen.”
