Mesmershade - ‘Echoes of Elegy’

Delving into ‘Echoes of Elegy’ is a rather hypnotising experience. You see, the record balances over mysterious electronica, dark and twisted sound designs with evocative and solemn vocals. It carries cathartic energy, taking the listeners to hidden cerebral places which are bound to provide an out-of-the-ordinary experience. Not for the faint of heart!

Over six passionate and luscious pieces, ‘Echoes of Elegy’ is the perfect intro to Mesmershade complex and nuanced artistry. Comprised of Hawaii-based lyricist Juniper Jow and Tokyo-based producer M. Munigant, the project seems to be exploring alternative territories, blending metaphorical, honest and fragile lyricism with a production style that’s quirky and intimate, quite contemporary, if we had to describe it.

Delving into the synergy behind the pair, Jow explains: “Munigan’s tracks were latent with inspiration. I knew as soon as I heard the music that I would be able to come up with lyrics if he wanted them. When I’m writing the lyrics, it feels like I’m just listening for the words that were already there.”
