MATYA - Nobody's Home

"Nobody’s Home” is more than a song, it’s a generational showcase of today’s countercultural rebels who go against the current of the traditional American dream. It’s an invitation to dream, to remember, and to challenge the established.

On Rotation: MATYA - Nobody's Home

“What happens when you mix lo-fi rock, French synth-pop, and a voice that transports you to another world? The result is MATYA, an emerging artist who dares to break the moulds of musical genre and question the ideal of the perfect life. Her debut single, “Nobody’s Home”, is an ode to nostalgia and longing for a simpler time, where dreams were possible and reality didn’t crush them. “Nobody’s Home” is more than a song, it’s a response to the traditional pursuit of the American dream. MATYA confronts this dream with grace and rebellion, displaying undeniable charisma. The distant sounds of the track seem to evoke memories, with the melody initially taking on a more important role than the lyrics, filling the artist’s silences. The title “Nobody’s Home” brings to mind the return to safe and familiar places, and the distance that is created when not finding what they used to be, tinging the memory with nostalgia. Past times bring with them an almost idyllic nostalgia, where the flaws of the past are camouflaged by a filter of beauty, like when we look back on our childhood.

Currently, MATYA is in the final stages of production of her upcoming EP, which will be released in 2024. Splitting her time between Los Angeles and Paris, the EP was produced at Catmilk Studios, working with names like John Velasquez (Broods, Zella Day, Vacations), Dan Bailey (Father John Misty, Lana Del Rey), Gabriel Cheurfa (Draumr, Dorcas), Pierre Duval (Philippe Zdar, at Motorbass), and mastered by Mike Marsh (Calvin Harris, Jonas Blue, Ellie Goulding). “Nobody’s Home” is more than a song, it’s a generational showcase of today’s countercultural rebels who go against the current of the traditional American dream. It’s an invitation to dream, to remember, and to challenge the established. And if that’s not enough to capture your interest, then perhaps nothing will be.
