Jeune, an emerging indie pop group comprising members Layla, Matt, Michael, and Carlos, released their latest single, Grey. Released as a preview of their forthcoming album, the track represents an evolution in the group’s sound, leaning into an 80s/90s synth-pop aesthetic inspired by artists like The Beaches, boygenius, and Clairo. Lyrically, Grey touches on themes of self-perception and emotional alienation. Opening with the lines, “Picking my brain / Till I can't think about this anymore,” the song sets a tone of emotional exhaustion, capturing the turmoil of someone caught between self-reliance and the desire for connection.
