Janita, a rising alt-rock Finnish-born and NYC-based artist, released her latest track “In Front Of Your Eyes.” The track might at first sound like a traditional breakup song, but it moreso focuses on that moment of clarity in a relationship where you wonder how someone is missing what is truly right in front of their eyes.

From the first beat, it’s clear that “In Front Of Your Eyes” is a confrontational track as her vocals have a unique tension. Meanwhile, there is a steady rhythm with vintage synths. The production, completed by ECR Music Group President Blake Morgan, is full in sound with a stark arrangement. It perfectly goes with Janita’s vocals, which carry a sense of anger, urgency, and disappointment that mirrors the song’s message. This is best found in the chorus, where Janita’s vocal performance sounds more like a wakeup call.

Afterall, the song’s lyrics can best be described as a gut punch at times. The first verse focus more on sharing an all too common story about feeling unheard in a relationship, but that quickly expands into a heavier reflection on cultural dissonance. Janita taps into that frustration to address the common question: how do you reach someone who refuses to see what’s plainly visible? The chorus, which is simply lyrically but grandiose in sound, centers around the repeated question of, “Why can’t you see what’s right in front of your eyes?” Maybe they can better hear what is going through their speakers?
