Hello Sunflower Summit, welcome to AFX. What are a few words that would best describe you and your musical world?

I am honest, a little awkward, but relatable and sweet.

Describe your creative process when you write music.

Sometimes I have a specific idea in mind of a feeling I want to try to capture, and other times I’m trying to define a feeling through writing it out. Melody and production ideas usually come at the same time, so I have a bit of a vision/end goal of what I want the song to be while I’m writing so I can make something that will fit that. Generally though there isn’t any one way to put together a song, just a lot of practice and trial and error.

What would you say is your greatest strength as a singer/musician?

I am fairly good at putting words to a feeling, and in turn that is what connects ands relates to people.

What are some of the challenges you face as a person and as an artist?

Time and budget management. There’s so much more I wish I could do with my songs but I don’t have the luxury of endless time and money, and working so much can lead to burn out. That’s okay, I am still here, slowly but surely.

What’s the best compliment someone could give you about your music?

Any time anyone takes the time to reach out to me to tell me literally anything about the song and how it impacted them is so special. This is why I do it, because there are people out there who relate to the music so much they had to share, and it’s truly a magical moment between me and them to get to exist within the space of the song together.

Do any of your songs based on personal experiences? If so, can you tell me about one that’s particularly special to you?

I would say every song is personal, I very rarely base anything on fiction. I think people relate to the truth and honesty of a song, and that is what I try to do. Hiding in particular is about how it feels for me to want more than I am currently able to do or give, about how it feels to sit with my fears and doubts on if I’m even on the right track and the overwhelm of existing.

Would you like to share anything else about yourself or your music with our readers?

I hope there is something in my songs you can connect to, and I hope you share that with me.
