ENO-OBONG - Piedmont Park EP, 'TRUTH' on rotation

Citing American trailblazer Flying Lotus as the project’s main influence, Eno-Obong already tells us one thing: he’s not here to please trends or to follow the beaten path. Rather, he’s an explorer, wandering the musical space for new formulas and stylings, embracing the leftfield with passion and charisma. ‘Piedmont Park’ is a fitting result for such an artistic research.

Built over a sleazy and wonky hip-hop vibe, the record blends witty and glitchy electronica with mangled old-school beats, packing a plethora of samples and vintage broadcast recordings in the process. Soulful keys, jazz-flavoured drums extract, and MC’s quotes: everything points towards an EP that’s greatly enriched by tradition. It uses it, to then transition into the future.

Describing the inspiration behind ‘Piedmont Park’, Eno-Obong explains: “This EP serves as a compelling exploration of the thin boundary that separates our choices, shedding light on the unsettling simplicity of veering towards the wrong path through Freaknik culture.”
