DAVIA SCHENDEL - Poison/Antidote

There are two different types of creative beings: the ones who follow the beaten path, borrowing formulas and styling from others, and the ones who are not afraid to pursue their own lane, shuffling the rules to deliver something that feels fresh and innovative. Davia Schendel belongs to the latter category, exhibiting a fierce and unapologetic character that gloriously materialises in music that’s hypnotising, almost cathartic.

‘Poison/Antidote’ is her latest effort, a slice of goodness built on an eclectic array of influences. From disco to funk, passing through 80s brightness: everything plays a role in what’s a transformative experience. Moving at a slow, luscious pace, ‘Poison/Antidote’ feels sensual and tempting, showcasing Schendel’s vocal performance, oscillating between singing and spoken word. A charming saxophone adds to the haunting and mysterious tone of the track, courtesy of Phillip Greenlief.

Based in New York, Davia Schendel is obviously up to something consistent, and we are glad of it. Stay tuned.
