Young love is messy and complicated. Sometimes, it reaches the point of being unenjoyable, where two people who lack maturity and experience in relationships commit every cardinal sin of love. Yet, in between all the ups and downs, there exists one definite truth: young love is made for us to grow. In “LITTLE ANGEL”, the point of growing up is finally reached, rebellious though it may be in its infancy. This slice of pop genius is brought to us by Montreal artist Charles Edward, whose latest single is a wonderfully cheery and heartfelt piece about a young love finally starting to develop into a deeper connection, even if it means cutting loose from one’s parents a little bit.

Continuing the themes of love and self-discovery that he explored on his debut single, “SOLO”, Edward is clearly trying to construct a chill anthem with this latest track. His slightly higher-pitched, confident vocal stylings are clearly taken out of the boy band playbook, and those who really dig groups like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer should immediately notice and fall for these similarities. The instrumental is understated and simple, which help Edward’s lyrics carry the track and invite listeners to feel exactly what he feels in this song. Wonderfully executed and deftly produced, “LITTLE ANGEL” is a chill episode of late-teenage life and love.
