On Rotation: Barleycove - ‘Forget You’

Emerging from South Carolina, Barleycove champion a rather eclectic sonic contour. Equally at home in acoustic settings, as they are in electronic fields, the American duo has recently unveiled their latest effort, a stunning trip-hop-inspired gem that feels as spacious as it is ethereal. A real triumph of the senses, ‘Forget You’ makes ample use of long soundscapes and light textures, blended with a healthy dose of vocal harmonies, often run through delays or an intriguing reverb.

Active since 2012, Barleycove have gone through the typical line-up washing machine action, where members tend to change every year. Luckily for them, the core artistic direction of the project - formed by Laura Jones on vocals, guitar and keys and Tim Trammell, percussion - still stands to this day.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Forget You’, they explain: “This song is about moving along quickly when dating when you see the red flags and realize you need to forget “them” and move on!”
