On Rotation: Annstiina Shares Dreamy Gem ‘Berlin’
Honestly, we hadn’t heard about Annstiina before today, but after listening to her latest effort, ‘Berlin’, we are simply amazed by how stunning her vocals are. Hailing from Finland, the talented songstress champions a sound that’s very Nordic; dreamy soundscapes, spacious reverbs, bright atmospheres and ethereal harmonies.
Everything points toward a winning formula, with Annstiina building a compelling electro-pop picture, drawing influences from dream pop and leftfield electronica. Quite cinematic too, with piano and strings making their appearance when the track builds up towards its legendary finale.
Written and produced by the Finnish singer herself, ‘Berlin’ is a luscious, hypnotising work of art. Describing the inspiration behind the track, Annstiina explains: “Berlin' is about trying to escape reality with help from a stranger. It's kind of a siren song, tempting the listener to give in after this sort of cat-and-mouse game.”
